Trumpet Turkey Call

Image
Hi folks, Today I knocked out a Lignum Vitae (very dense hardwood) Trumpet Turkey Call. This call was made mainly to work on the internal geometry and design of the sound chambers. The call sounds great and I think we have a winner. The outside design-shape on this call is plain-Jane but can vary with little to no effect on the sound. I'll be making a couple of fancier versions of this trumpet design  in the next few weeks to put into my store. You can see  them here: http://drkorn55.wixsite.com/dougkornsworkshop I hope all of my fellow turkey hunters out there are having a great and safe hunting season..... I'm thinking turkey's and turkey tail nymphs. How about you?

Hi folks - it's been a while since I last posted but it's good to be back at the lathe turning a call. I've been looking forward to hunting season and taking a bird to supply more tail-feathers for tying my turkey tail stone fly nymphs. These nymph's are very active in early spring and a sure bet in our local streams, the trout love them. Korn's Wire Head Turkey-tail Nymph I made this simple, clean lined osage call yesterday for a little lathe practice. The trumpet has a delrin mouth piece that I turned and is 8-1/4" overall. My thanks for giving it a look.

DK#7 Special Trumpet Turkey Call

Here's my latest: Red Oak Delrin mouth piece 38 special brass This trumpet has the slender shape and call tone that I have been striving for.  I really like the way this one came out.  Now I will try to replicate it and be consistent from call to call...  thanks for taking a look.... Doug

More practice on the lathe.  I turned this trumpet of Spalted Maple in a more classic style...

Hi folks, just thought I'd post a couple of photos of the first trumpet turkey call that I made yesterday on my lathe. I turned it out of red oak. It has a PEI mouth piece and a cork stopper.  She's a sweet talker!
