Turkey down

 After a very tough week of hunting these magnificent birds in terrible weather I was lucky enough to take this fine gobbler. I used a Scott Witter Box Call to bring him to the gun. Now I have lots of nice tail feathers for tying my turkey tail nymphs.... right on!

    Thats Awesome Doug! I had a tag for the 1st 2 weeks here in Jersey. 1st week was weathered out, and the finally began talking mid-2nd week. Had some great conversations up to about 75yds, but no shots this year. Some I got too aggressive and another just would not cross a powerline.

    Congrats on a fine bird.

I really like this Mayfly pattern. I played around at the vise this morning and tied a few. Here's one I tied as a PMD on a #14 1xl dry fly hook. It doubles as a spinner and an upright winged Mayfly. The upright wing is also used as a sighter for us old guys and when viewed from the bottom it looks like a spinner. tying the Isonychia Nymph

More trip prep ~ tying of some Vinnie's Iso-nymphs.  I tied some with and without wire heads pictured below.  I'm starting to get excited about this trip in a couple of weeks even though it will be a short one, just two days.  But hey, two days with your son fly fishing, what could be better.  Scott is coming to the house this weekend and we will get all of our final plans made...  Should be fun and we've got to have better weather than last time, right?  So stay tuned...
