55 on the fly

Hi folks: Today I'm tying up some flies to use on my local creek for imitating the Sulphur Mayflies that are hatching in my area now.  Matt Grobert along with Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions happen to put up a new video on his web site and I loved the fly so much I thought I'd tie up a few... Hit the Creek for some early morning action.   I caught the 8:30 am. Sulphur hatch and the browns a plenty! Yeah - they were after these guys and I had some really nice dry fly fishing.

Jim on the left and Ben on the right both got nice gobblers with me at Cherry Creek, NY... It was 4 days of very wet hunting!

I have been busy at the bench lately tying Green Drake EMT Loop Wing Emergers.  EMT stands for "Emerging Mayfly for Trout".   This fly is tied by several others including Craig Mathews and the late Dave Lewis.   I'm not sure who originated it, but this is my version. I also did a little "practice" video with my new camera that I've attached.  This is raw un-edited video so keep that in mind.    http://youtu.be/wKG7Mc4ov_o Enjoy tying some up, fish them with just some floatant on the hackle and foam. Loop Wing in process... A great fly anywhere you have drakes.  I tie them in green, brown and gray.  I even tie smaller versions for PMD's, BWO's, Hendrickson's, etc.. The fish took a bit of everything today.... I saw Midges, Hendricksons, Quill Gordons and maybe even a few Sulphers???... first fish in the net and in the hand --- the first of many... Fish of the Day ~15" until next time "on the fly"...

This fly is a great all-round Caddis Fly imitation as-well-as; Stone Fly, Golden Stone and Yellow Sally.  Just change the colors of the thread, foam and hackle.   Materials List: Hook: 1xl nymph #12-18 this is a 14. Thread: Danville 6/0 Body: black craft foam 2 mm Wing: deer hair Hackle: Rooster Badger dress hook to bend with touching turns then back to half shank add small drop of super glue  tie in foam with thread wraps going forward, trim waste tie in a small clump of deer hair winding thread through the buts to the hook eye trim butts close tie in a badger hackle shinny side towards you wrap hackle forward 3-4 turns, tie off double whip finish, trim waste piece completed Neversink tied and photographed by Doug Korn
