The Beauty of the Gardner River - Scenery (Part 2)
A waterfall along the way. I thought this was awesome - little did I know what was ahead! |

I wish you could hear the power in this water. |

We are way above this waterfall even though it doesn't look like it in this photo. We had to watch our footing as we were very close to the edge at some places. |
This is the first meadow along our route. Our hike in was high above this area. The river below looks small but only because it is far below where I am standing. |
A pond filled with lily pads? Where did that come from?? |

Picture perfect! See the mountains in the background? |
The water from the falls turns this little corner and moves on down the canyon. We walked down here to start our fishing portion of the trip. |
Looking back up at the waterfall right after the turn. |
The water is fast but shallow in most places. I didn't want to follow Doug up here but he convinced me and I'm so glad that I did! What an amazing feeling standing here! |
A little yellow bellied marmot came out to say hello. |
Looking down on our walk out. Believe me it is high up above that river! |

Hi Doug,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading all of your blog posts regarding your trip in and around Yellowstone area and I have been considering doing a trip similar to the one you are posting. I do have several questions that i hope you wouldn't mind answering.
1. Did you rent a motor home or did you drive your own personal one?
2. What was the duration of your trip?
3. Did you reserve any camp grounds in advance or did you show up at one and they had a spot for you?
I'm thinking about a trip next year for my 60th birthday as long as I'm healthy enough to take it. I would fly into Bozeman, MT and rent the smallest RV from Cruise America. Drive around the Yellowstone area for 1 1/2 to 2 weeks before returning home to Connecticut.
Thanks in advance,
Norm

ReplyDelete1. We have a 5th Wheel..... see blog posts from July.
2. We are in Yellowstone for a month - July 22 thru Aug. 22..... If I only had two weeks I'd come the first 2 weeks in Aug.
3. Yes, reserve early... We love Rocky Mountain RV Park in Gardiner... It's more costly than staying in the park, but most of the park campgrounds do not have hook-ups and do not take reservations...
Norm, I think your plan is a good one... but I would want 2 weeks minimum.... TL, Doug.
Wow...what a great place....I keep saying wow!
